Digital objects are often created at great cost in terms of effort and financial outlay, yet they can be lost frighteningly easily if not properly cared for. David Larsen will draw on the extensive experience that Africa Media Online has had over the past 13 years in not only managing digital assets on behalf of heritage institutions, but also in teaching others how to manage their own assets from professional photographers to large multimedia archives.

What content will be covered?

Starting with the needs and requirements of a small collection with a very limited budget and working all the way up to large enterprise level systems for large multimedia digital collections David will guide you through best practice in the area of storing digital assets including folder structures and naming conventions.

What will I gain?

At the end of the masterclass you should have a clear understanding of best practice in storing your digital assets no matter the size of your collection or the size of your budget. It is possible to do this well on a very small budget and it is possible to do it badly on a very large budget. You will understand how to do it well no matter the budget you have to work with.
